AXECUTER - METAL IS INVINCIBLE (Infernö Records)
(Review by Patrick De Sloover)
Opening phrase of the booklet: ‘This album is dedicated to all true 70’s and 80’s die hard Heavy Metal Maniacs, all those who bravely stand narrow-minded against all fashion, trends and disgusting modernity. It you are not one of us, just keep away: don’t buy this cd, don’t borrow it, don’t listen to it, don’t review it… Just forget it’. Well so to speak, we are dealing with 100% pure metal heads that want to spread their message for once and for all: If you’re not a metalhead, fuck off!
Axecuter is a trio from Brazil which was formed in 2010 in Curitiba, Parana. In their short existence, they released a demo in 2011 (Bangers Prevail) and an EP (Innocence Is Our Excuse) in 2012. With the release of ‘Metal Is Invincible’, they want to get the band on the map with their anthem: ‘Metal Is Invincible, Don’t Try To Break The Unbreakable’. As this band is totally new to me, I first took a look at the front cover artwork to get an idea what this is all about. You see a studded metal dude with bullet belts arm wrestling with a rich self-made man who believes that money is his true religion. The metal dude wears the cross upside down, so he’s making a statement that is applicable to the record label (In Metal We Trust-In Hell We’ll Burn). The accompanied promo sheet gives a little info and some pictures of the three members of Axecuter. They are wearing T-shirts of Bathory, Running Wild and … Picture! Well, this is interesting! The patches on the Denim jackets mention bands like Satan, Angel Witch and Venom, so let’s keep this one short: all my favorites are gathered in just a few pictures!
The music is a hodgepodge and gallimaufry of all mentioned bands, so don’t expect anything new. They bring their metal loud and proud, they aim for just one thing: ‘Bang Your Head, Until You’re Dead’. Needless to add more words to this review, as the music does the talking. If you like metal from bands like Cirith Ungol, Sodom, Razor, Exciter, Onslaught, Tank, Holocaust, Piledriver, and the already mentioned bands, this release will appeal to all of you! Axecuter isn’t original at all, but they bring the good times back, and that’s worth a praise!
Proud To Be A Minority!
