DARIO LORINA - DARIO LORINA (Shrapnel Records)

                                   (Review by Stefan)

As a young boy from Boston, Dario Lorina already felt the passion to be top notch guitarist sooner or later, he owned his very first guitar around Christmas 1995, a turquoise strat type Samich guitar to be more precisely. A new world opened up for this young aged fellow, he started with a burning desire to a prestigious career as time passed by. He probably came to this world with a guitar in hands, he was destined to be a guitar prodigy… a natural born guitar wonder ! Proverbially said - only with a lot of practice, you can achieve what you will achieve and that, he has accepted for the truth.

Day by day, week after week, month after month, Dario’s guitar tactics grew stronger and stronger… the time has come to offer his over the top, outstanding guitar skills to a particular band. I’m not sure but I guess that his first band ever must have been Cyrus Zain, a US Hard Rock/Metal act featuring three ‘older guys’ while he was only 15. A few years ago, I reviewed their one and only released EP containing five tracks, superb effort anyway ! Along with the release of Cyrus Zain’s EP, Dario Lorina took me completely by surprise and I knew that one day he would be there again with more world class shred guitar tactics.

At the age of 16, he joined Jani Lane (late Warrant singer) as tour guitarist which he traveled around the world with, the same he did with US Metal band Lizzy Borden. More remarkable facts: he collaborated with Motorhead, became a guitar teacher, features at the most famous guitar magazines world wide, Dario was also participating in the Music Star Productions All Star DVD (2008) featuring greats like  George Lynch, Bruce Kulick, Jennifer Batten, etc, etc… he is the most promising guitarist of his age definitely!

Through the years, Dario was recognized for its incredible range in terms of musical guitar skills, a while ago legendary Shrapnel Records offered him a contract. One of the greatest labels ever released Dario Lorina’s self titled album on September 10th. Shrapnel Records - a label that turns up nothing but good memories to me. Their legendary US Metal series had such an impact on me those early 80s days, have to admit that’s the reason why I became a fervently US Metal maniac. I should be very grateful to CEO Mike Varney for the delivery of such a great efforts throughout the following decades !

Dario Lorina’s self titled new album has been produced by himself in a mundane way really. Additional production by the magic hands of Jason Constantine – executive producer by the fabled Mike Varney ! If swirling, full technical guitar works draws you into temptation, there is no time to hesitate to buy this all instrumental album of shred master Dario himself! What you can expect from this CD is of very high quality, thirteen instrumental compositions reflecting nothing but guitar virtuosity. Pure Metal & Hard Rock related songs, some fusion oriented works, he is not even shy to give us a surprise of size to dish with the song, actually cover track ‘House Of The Rising Sun’ from 60s UK based Rock legends The Animals. Everyone on planet Earth knows all about this song but no one ever heard an instrumental version, right? Well, Dario Lorina offers delivers another shocking surprise. To play with his highly recommended, fully technical skilled way of fretboard enchantment, he knows to pull my passion for guitar virtuosity completely to itself. Every possible guitar movement that you can imagine will be find back on the album, that’s for sure. No matter if you’re in the mood to go for a hard and heavy ride, or rather you’re longing for some peaceful moments… you get it all !

You have to hear it before you can believe it, as a guitar maniac myself since the early 80s… Dario Lorina’s new album has blown me apart easily. Fans of Eddie Van Halen, Paul Gilbert, Marty Friedman, Randy Rhoads, George Lynch, Yngwie Malmsteen, Ritchie Kotzen, Jason Becker, Toby Knapp would have to buy this killer album with commitment. Order through Shrapnel Records Music Group at: http://shrapnelrecords.com/ Opportunity to purchase your own digital downloads via Itunes/Amazon right HERE. Dario Lorina - a young, long haired champ who conquered the world of Hard Rock & Metal music with flammable guitar shreds to the extreme !
