(Review by Officer Nice)

At first I thought Minotaurus was some kind of  dinosaur but after a quick search it seems to be a mythic figure out of the ancient Greek culture, half human, half bull. Nice to know… Talking about the music this seems to be a band from out of Germany. These guys are active since a long time and “The Call” is fourth full length album.

These lads deliver what meanwhile is called “Celtic Metal, “Viking or Pagan” Metal or even “Folk Metal”. To be honest this kind of music has never been my cup of tea but there is a public out there for these kind of bands. The fact this band is active since at least 1996 makes me believe they must be good in what they’re doing. Anyway a few listens to this promo-version convinces me there are good musicians in this band. The song writing is typical for the genre, and the used female voices fit the tracks very well. Yet I don’t actually like that feeling  ‘let’s sing along around the campfire with a beer in our hand ‘ . On stage it might be fun but a whole CD is too much for me.

But I admit this band contains good guitar players, from the kind that perfectly knows how to play a good lead. During the entire album I hear some good Heavy Metal with great rhythms but I’m not into a ‘sing along’ modus. Good song writing is more than a few happy notes , at least in my opinion. I am bored after a time... Nevertheless I am convinced of the quality of the band, fans of this genre will certainly appreciate what these guys did.
