SPIRIT - HOMMES OU DIABLES (Emanes Metal Records)

                               (Review by Officer Nice)

From this label we received a few CD-R’s. No problem, as long as I am able to listen to them. I had no problems with this one and it felt good to hear some Metal with French lyrics again. For some reason I have always liked it. Bands like good old Trust, Manigance, Sortilège… they have something special because of the French spoken lyrics.

I was a bit surprised reading on the Internet that this band was already formed in 1988. Their first serious release was dated 2006 and ever since they released one album. Now they represent their latest effort and it’s so clear these guys are influenced by the Eighties Metal forces. What Spirit brings is pure Heavy Metal on a good production, with good song writing and with an eye for details. Although this band delivers hard hitting arrangements they also attends a good feeling for melody.

This album contains twelve good Heavy Metal songs which breathes anything from the good old Eighties. Great leads, good riffs, varied tempi and good vocals. To me this is the kind of band that should be welcomed at those German true Metal festivals. Check them out at http://www.myspace.com/spiritnew.
