This is the second album of the Canadian metalband Crimson Shadows. They won the 2013th Wacken Metal battle which got them signed on the Austrian Napalm Records label. I love Canadian bands like Exciter, Anvil or Annihilator. Does Crimson Shadow step in their footsteps? No, there is quite a difference.
After the first spin of this record I can conclude that we are dealing with a group of very talented musicians. Fast riffing, fast solo's and blasting drums. The vocals are very deep grunting with very melodic parts. This band sounds very modern and received a very professional treatment on how the record was finished. This kind of music is a little bit too modern for me though. The label said that they played "Epic Metal" which made me think about Manilla Road but it is nothing like that. Kings Among Men can be compared with a mixture between Dragonforce and Children Of Bodom, not two of my favorite bands.
Crimson Shadows is very talented but not my type of genre. Fans will love this and I can approve this record to modern melodic power metal fans. If you are a fan of the old school stuff, then don't get fooled by the awesome cover-art!
