I've had never heard of this Swedish band from Sölvesborg (the city where Sweden Rock is held every year). Dust Bowl Jokies was introduced to me as a "glam" metal band. Glam made me immediately think about the sunset BLVD clubs in LA where bands like Poison, Mötley Crüe, Ratt or Great White are very popular. Looking at the cover of the record, I had to think about a country or southern rock band. Therefore I was quite curious to hear the tracks on the disc!

This is their debut album. They’ve already released an EP which was added as a bonus feature on the record. The album starts off with a glam rock vibe. Energetic songs that bring you in the hair metal mood! Vocalist Alexx reminds me of Jack Russel from Great White. High and clean vocals are perfectly fitting the songs. Dust Bowl Jokies is a quintet of skilled musicians. I really enjoyed this album. I was pretty amazed when I listened to the track "Whore of Babylon", which sounded more like a country-bluesy southern rock track. This is, being not glam, my favourite song on the album! I kept it playing on repeat!

These guys definitely convinced me and I’m looking forward to their next album. I won't wear make up though....

Final verdict: Dust Bowl Jokies creates very good glam music. Releasing this as a debut album, I hope they can do the same job again, or even better! They would fit right back in the 80's between other glam bands. If you are into this genre in some way, then check this one out... It swings! https://www.facebook.com/dustbowljokies
