THRASH BOMBZ - DAWN (Iron Shield Records)

After the recording and release of a demo and EP, the Italian band Thrash Bombz decided that they were ready for another miniCD to keep themselves in the spotlights. The first releases were critically acclaimed and the masses seem to be ready for another attack! I wasn’t aware about this quartet so far, but things can change quickly! Iron Shield Records was contacted and the band entered the studio to record another earthquake, this time entitled ‘Dawn’.

Heartbeats start this EP that contains 6 songs with a duration of 21 minutes. After the intro ‘Unknown…’, the real first song (…Presence) continues with outstanding guitars. The solo of Salvator ‘Skizzo’ Li Causi leads the track into a devastating Thrash metal attack. The vokills of Angelo Bissanti incite the hordes into madness and the song is growing faster and faster. This is Sadus-like Thrash Metal but sleazier, and with an intense  heaviness! ‘Drown In Your Misery’ opens again vicious and deadly and the first solos are blowing my speaker. When the vocals intensify the song, we hear a little Araya approach (Slayer) and that’s really executed in best possible way!  What I like a lot on this band is the variety. Every song is a killer, but every time it’s totally different.

‘Eternal Punishment’ has an Exodus approach, but these Italians aren’t just pigeonholed that easy. Breaks and twists result in a climax of thrash metal and I guess that this is one of the best thrash metal releases that I heard in months! My neck needed a resting moment, and luckily ‘Dawn’ opens with some modest guitar playing. It’s all really calm and quiet and I was wondering if Thrash Bombz would dare to add a ballad-like song on this album, but it is limited to an instrumental pause moment, which is played with a lot of passion and dedication. One more song to go and as expected, they will show no mercy! ‘Human Obliteration’ is the final track of this EP that is going at full speed again!

Thrash Bombz isn’t an original name for a band, but what they delivered with this release is beyond every expectation. This is a MUST HAVE Thrash EP, and if the band has the abilities to get supported in an appropriate way, they will have a golden future ahead! Thrash Bombz can be considered as the new highlight of Southern Europe, and the likes of German Thrash Metal can expect a new batch of aggression within short time!  Italy is on top with Thrash Bombz!!
